The Stretch Between

The long part of the journey lives in the air.

Our Air France flight from Atlanta to Paris was genuinely pleasant. A newer plane. Big screens. Reliable Wi-Fi. Eight hours felt long, but manageable. We landed a little early, which quietly stretched our layover to nearly six hours.

Paris was worth every minute.

But by the time we returned to the airport, the fatigue had settled in.

We moved smoothly through security. We reached the gate with about twenty minutes to spare before boarding. Just enough time to sit still for a moment.

The second leg from Paris to Dubai…was harder. An older aircraft. Fewer comforts. Smaller screens. Slower Wi-Fi. Sleep didn’t come easily, if at all. The flight arrived about thirty minutes late, and after more than seven hours in the air, every minute was felt.

Touching down in Dubai felt like relief.

Not excitement yet.

Not energy.

Just the quiet satisfaction of having made it through the longest stretch.

Some parts of the journey you enjoy.

Some you endure.

Both count.

Taxing to the gate. 🛬

  • MLK Jr. Day

Some days don’t ask for celebration. They ask for reflection. Today is one of them. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy is often summarized in quotes and headlines, but the deeper impact lives in what his life required: conviction, discipline, and a willingness to keep moving forward when it would have been easier to stop….

  • When Things Are Revealed

Not everything benefits from being visible all at once. Some experiences need to be approached indirectly. Gradually. With a little patience built in. What you don’t see yet shapes how you receive what comes next. Visibility creates familiarity. Reveal creates meaning. When something is hidden—by distance, darkness, or design—it asks for attention in a different…

Anticipation has its own momentum. It builds quietly at first, then starts to pull—plans forming, expectations filling in the space ahead of you. Before you arrive anywhere, you’ve already imagined it several times over. Motion carries that anticipation forward. Walking, traveling, moving through something physical. It keeps the mind occupied, pointed ahead. You’re busy getting…
